A sequel that takes "second-book syndrome" and stomps it into dust. The perfect pair to this duology, I adored this book.

One Dark Window has a gut wrenching and perfect cliffhanger of an ending, so starting Two Twisted Crowns I was very nervous it would fall short of the bar it set for itself and the expectations I held for it. But for naught! (Haha, naught, I'm fancy) Initially, when I began reading and at once noted the alternating POV style I was worried about the shift in writing style, bit it was exactly the right stylistic choice for this story.

While book one introduces an intriguing and personable cast of characters, and unique world-building this book is where both truly shine. Elm and Ione are the stars of this book, surprising me when Ravyn and Elsbeth are both still main protagonists. How the cards were forged and why are revealed. The Nightmare becomes three dimensional, and his past is unfurled. And the resolution? 🤌🏼 mwah, chef's kiss.
