Year One by Nora Roberts

5.0

I’ve always loved Nora Roberts and I only recently finished her latest captivating trilogy and as we’re living through a pandemic at the moment, this book seemed a lot more intense.

One man becomes infected through the blood of an animal and a pandemic wipes out over half of the world’s population in months and along with massive death toll, comes magic. People are suddenly finding themselves with magical powers as old myths comes to life and it becomes not only about survival but about those with magic and those without.

Reasons I’d Recommend:
1) Very different from her usual work. Not everyone has a happy ending. It’s a wonderful blend of The Walking Dead, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and mythology.
2) The characters are relatable, like you know someone in your life who would fall into each role and
3) It’s a coming of age story about power, about empowerment, about growing up, about love, about life, and about doing what’s right.
