Russian Roulette: The Story of an Assassin by Anthony Horowitz
5.0
Dynamic, wild and unexpected! A must-read not only for fans of the Alex Rider series. A joy! Precisely the right amount of time and detail is dedicated to each event. The story gives depth to Yassen’s character and let me arrive at a revelation about the events described in Snakehead, a previous volume. Yassen is truly not who I expected him to be. He seems to be a tragic hero: chastised for being too trusting, ethical and highly emotional. The novel also has a flair of drama. I just wish Yassen had spent more time with Alex, telling him everything, or that Alex could find his dairy. If Alex could read this story, a lot of things in his life would suddenly make sense. However, it might be too sad for him to know. All in all, a moving read whose tone changes rapidly from fabulous, thrilling and invincible to tragic, hard and dramatic.
