Daughters of Nantucket by Julie Gerstenblatt

4.0

Daughters of Nantucket focused on a time and place I’d never read about. Eliza, Maria and Meg were all living in Nantucket in 1846. And I really felt this was a unique historical fiction, focusing largely on the personal freedoms of women. I appreciated that it focused on a free Black woman, a queer woman, and a woman not afraid of self love. It’s not the kind of stories you see often in historical fiction and it’s made it one of my favorites.
