The Lightkeeper's Ball by Colleen Coble
4.0
Olivia is a lady of the early 1900’s who’s family is finding themselves low on money. In order to not lose everything her sister had planned to marry a man named Harrison. But soon word comes that her sister is dead. Her mother soon tries to convenience Olivia to marry him instead. She also receives a letter from her sister written right before she died asking her to come to her. So Olivia heads to California using a different name to see if she can find out what happened to her sister and to see if she could be a match for this man.
Harrison wants to fly aeroplanes but his father things it’s a waste of time. He is also feeling played by the woman he had planned to marry and who ended up dead. He meets Olivia and finds himself attracted and soon also finds himself protecting her as someone is trying to kill her but why? Will Olivia figure out what happened to her sister and will Harrison still want to have a relationship with her once he knows who she really is?
The first thing I loved about this book was the cover. Its just breathtaking. I almost want to buy the paper version because of it! I enjoyed this book a lot. I always enjoy a book that can balance the mystery and romance so well and this book does just that.It was a good mystery as well. There are many twists and turns in the plot that keep you wondering till the end how its all going to play out.
The one thing I felt was a little unbelievable was how long Olivia was able to keep her real name from Harrison. There where just to many people who knew who she was and I felt that it got a little silly that he still did not know. Over all this was a good book and I really enjoyed it. This is the 3rd book of a series. I have not read the other two. Even though the characters from the other books are in this book they where side characters and this can easily be read as a stand alone book. I would like to go back and read the other two at some point. If you like Christian Historical Fiction you will enjoy this book.
