If you enjoy "Upstairs/Downstairs" or "Downton Abbey", this is a good read. The idea of being In Service has had a strange mystique for me. This memoir does a good job of putting a real woman's experience into focus. The work was hard and thankless. Her voice is often funny, and her memories are detailed and interesting.
