The book does manipulation really well and showing what/how a person who is being manipulated feels/sees/interacts with things happening around them and to them. The ending does feel rushed and there is a lot missed out that would have been very interesting. The book could be cut down to less than 300 pages as not much actually happens.
The peak was anticlimactic and very predicable, just from Clara's behaviour I could tell she was going to kill Olivia and that she killed Vanessa. The symbolism of Clara being covered in blood on the night she is found out was a dead giveaway too. Also, Chloe accepting the scarf that started it all and the bracelet, a direct link to Clara and the Goldens, makes no sense to me bc she was never into the Goldens but then she wants to lead them? By the end, even after everything, she still does what Clara wants/expects from her and she allows her to manipulate her. Which does show just how deep Clara's influence on Chloe is.
