Different Seasons by Stephen King

5.0

Different Seasons was fantastic. My adoration for Stephen King knows no bounds. These stories ran the gamut from hopeful, inspirational, and joyous, to outright terrifying.

Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption - 5/5 - I had already seen the movie, but hadn't read this novella. It was as good as the film. Spectacular.

Apt Pupil - 5/5 - One of the darkest King pieces of fiction I've ever read. This story was simply brutal. I'd actually add some content warnings for readers who might get queasy easily.

The Body - 3/5 - I haven't seen Stand by Me yet, but this was my least favorite. Everyone says the movie is great, but I found this one to be the slowest and least compelling.

The Breathing Method - 5/5 - A sleeper hit. I hadn't ever heard of this one, and it was so, so good! A treatise on the power of determination, while also being extremely spooky. Throw in a little bit of King cosmic horror for extra flavor.

Don't forget to read the Afterword!
