This book is everything I needed to get myself back into a consistent reading routine.

A perfect opener for the series ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’, ‘A Game of Thrones’ enthrals you in a world of hardship, murder and treachery, where honour can be your armour but also your downfall.

I couldn’t put this book down, from the family dynamics of the Starks to the arrogance and smugness of the Lannisters, to the outside existence of the former Targaryen dynasty, each character is fully realised and has so much depth that it is hard not to want to know more with every page.

A true grim dark fantasy, those who are used to classic fantasy may be turned off by the lack of obvious fantastical elements, but I would recommend that everybody gives this book a chance as you may be surprised.
