Boulley’s books deserve our attention if only because they offer a wealth of information about indigenous rights in the US and present the lasting impact of genocide and colonisation on indigenous peoples. However, I did find this book much weaker than FKD. The plot line with Erik was weak and felt forced. The ending felt rushed. The lack of explanation around what happened with Daunis that brought her to where she was in this book was frustrating.
Graphic: Genocide, Grief, and Kidnapping
Moderate: Rape, Colonisation, and Sexual assault
Minor: Forced institutionalization
