A Dog's Purpose by W. Bruce Cameron

5.0

I just have to say first off, this is a very emotional read! I cried multiple times, and yes I laughed out loud at the witty humor, but the tears very much overcame the laughter. I felt so helpless reading this book and reading about the dogs and people. I mean how much can one person take while reading about things that are so bittersweet, it is hard to see the good. I thought the author did a fantastic job writing from a dog's perspective and I could even see my own dog thinking/saying the things that the dog in this book did. I was horrified at the dogs first life and how it changed into the second life. It was probably the most shocking of the four lives. The second life was warm and fuzzy and wonderful to read. I enjoyed the third life as well, though there wasn't as much time spent on it. Kinda sad to see that one end, then I was so flabbergasted that there was indeed a fourth and final life for our dog. I was completely blind sided by this life and cried more during this one that the others, except maybe the second life change. I thought it was a well written good and easy read, but very deep and makes you think of all the relationships with people and animals, and how they change and shape you. Over all I would say this book is very bittersweet bordering on sad. Do not read if you have just lost a loved one or animal!
