Malibu: August, 1983 - the day of the annual Riva party arrives & this one is set to be legendary. Nina, Jay, Hud, & Kit, offspring of singer Mick Riva, have survived together since their mother, June, died & their father was nowhere to be found. Now Nina is a famous model married to a tennis player, except he has just left her, whilst Jay, a successful surfer, is about to be hit with the news that his younger brother is dating his ex, & Kit just wants to be noticed.
The book moves between the initial meeting of Mick & June & throughout their tempestuous marriage, & the present-day. I have to say, I've never read a book where I instantly couldn't care less about 99% of the characters. The only one who was mildly tolerable was Nina & she was rather boring to be honest. All I can say is that if people turned up & treated my house & its contents in such a manner, I'd have them arrested & then bill them for the damage - rich & famous or not. Shallow. Vacuous. Dreadful.
