To Flame a Wild Flower by Sarah A. Parker

1.0

I will post this review to all three books.

I started reading this series because I needed something quick and light to read in between listening to the audiobook of Babel and reading crime and punishment.

Regarding the first book, it was too confusing. I understand that we needed to stretch the plot to have a long series, but we barely got any information and it was ridiculous. Also I could’ve lived without the grooming aspects of the main ship. Definitely check the trigger warnings for this whole series, there are a lot.

Then there’s the second book, which was a mess. An even bigger mess. I don’t think we can interpret the lack of communication between the love interests as miscommunication because that isn’t a term capable of encompassing this situation. Basically, there’s no plausible reason for why the MMC hid everything from the protagonist, except to stall the plot and stretch the series. Everything could’ve been avoided if he had been open about their situation and their circumstances. I’m sure an ancient being would be able to basic communication skills by now.

Finally, for now, the third book was an even bigger mess. Yes, much to my dismay there will be more books in this series. The villain is a joke. Besides lacking a personality, he’s the poster boy for all “man-children” out there. Honestly, at this point, the main ship just isn’t that good. It goes beyond the toxicity and the grooming. The smut isn’t that good and the way it unfolded doesn’t make sense. Let’s not get started on Kai’s side story.

These books are so non-sensical and the writing is very confusing. Most of the time, I have to go back to re-read parts because the story doesn’t make sense.

Therefore, I am unsure if I will continue with this series in the future. We shall see.
