We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

4.0

this is a review mostly for my future self, so don't expect me to be objective or particularly reasonable but you can read it if you want

First of all, yes, I did like the twist. The funny thing is that I also get people who say they saw it coming even though I didn't. I was retelling this book to my husband, trying not to spoil anything, but as I said everything out loud - it was way too obvious.

The fact that Cadence's friends were not alive was so obvious, but for some reason, I didn't get that while I was reading.

I really liked the style of writing. I enjoyed it being abrupt and chaotic sometimes. I think it made me pay more attention to what was actually written there.

I didn't mind Cadence and her family as characters, mostly because I don't really care if I liked them or not. For me, the main thing is that I should be interested. And I was.

Did I think about not finishing this book? Yes. In the 1st half of the book, I lost my train of thought and was confused way too many times.

Am I glad I finished the book? Yes, I am.
Why?

The main reason I enjoyed that book is that after you find out the main twist you want to read some of the pages again. As you start flipping the pages, you see that every little detail was a hint and a clue about what happened. Starting from pages 30-35, you can really see small details that connect it all together and it's fun.
