Intercepted ★★★☆☆

I was so excited to get to Poppy and TK’s story. While it was enjoyable, it didn’t warm my heart like Intercepted.

It felt great to be back in the world surrounding the Mustangs and all of the characters that we got to know. Alexa Martin has a way of writing relatable heroines. Just like Marlee, Poppy was someone that I easily liked and warmed up to. I loved the relationship she had with Ace and loved all of their moments together. We know that I love cute kids in books!

The best part about this book was reading about TK and Ace forming a relationship. Even though these were fictional characters, I promise my feelings were so involved in this father/son relationship. The way the just easily gave their affections? Stab me with a fork because I’m done.

I also enjoyed the friendship between these women. This group of friends really shined and gave me something to love. The jokes and the way that they supported each other was really something wonderful to read about.

Where my issues lied were with some of the choices that these two made and also the lack of romance. Don’t get me wrong, we did get moments between Poppy and TK. I just would have liked more. A big focus of this book is on Poppy’s everyday life and the football aspect. Now don’t be like “Kayla, this is a sports romance” I get that, maybe we just could have seen a bit more romance between our two main characters.

Speaking of our two main characters, communication seemed to be their downfall throughout their history and this book. Some of the issues they had could have been done with completely or at least taken care of earlier if they had just talked it out.

Overall, while I didn’t love this book as much as the first in the series, I still had a good time reading it. Now, I’ve had a girl crush on Brynn this whole time. So seeing that the next book is about my favorite sassy blonde makes me super excited!
