Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris
4.0

Funny. Dry funny. Not Chuck Palahniuk dry funny.

I love the dry humor and sarcasm. This book is an assembly of short stories about David's life. I always wonder how people write books like this and don't loose my interest. Good writing, that's how.

He's not sarcastic or dry in a twisted way. He picks on little societal nuances and upturns his nose in a completely rational way.
David Sedaris and Douglas Adams could write a hell of a Satire together. True story.

I also enjoy that he upturns his nose, but includes himself. Yes, this is a silly behavior/reaction/question. Yes, everyone does it. No, we probably won't ever stop.

He's also pretty smart. When he notices or experiences something, it's fairly deep. Only fairly. But he always seems to encounter the side of an average every day experience from a side nobody else would ever dream of experiencing it from. He's very unique.

The way that David Sedaris can explain a person's compulsion with hoarding perishable goods in an amusing way is why he's good. You get back story, details, character analysis - all rolled up into one smooth, comical package.

I enjoyed it very much and can't wait to read another of his books.
