“Sheer happiness in a book!” -Courtney Milan
Completely agree. This book made me so happy (but also emotionally destroyed me for personal reasons).
Iris has always felt apart from her family, she’s struggled figuring out what she wants to do and how to make money but after her great-aunt passes away she leaves her her house and Iris takes that as an opportunity to restart. She ends up deciding to live there and rent out the other rooms. Eli accidentally ends up as the first roommate. He was in town to help his grandmother and saw her, he’s always had a crush on Iris since an incident when they were children but could never work up the nerve to talk to her but then accidentally ends up renting a room he doesn’t need and takes it as an opportunity to get to know her.
The rest of the roommates trickle in over time and it almost feels like there’s something magical about this house that hand selects the perfect roommates. I loved every single person that moved into this house and they all became a little found family and my heart just could not handle it. Henry Dale you curmudgeon old man ♥️. Sally the loving grandmotherly figure everyone needs. Mira was so sweet (out of them all I feel like we could have learned more about her) and she brought them to Rowan who really came into their own when they moved in, it was sweet to see them all wanting to help them out.
The found family was my favorite aspect of this book. This is also set in the same town as the other Fix-It Witches books so we got to see little cameos and mentions of the other characters throughout. This on was not nearly as spicy as those books which I was a little surprised about.
