I picked this up last year and didn’t get very far in before deciding to put it down. I’m chalking it up to right book, wrong time because after picking it up again this year, it pulled me in immediately. It is a very well crafted story and has a great enemies to lovers romance aspect. The world building is well done and robust. I also really liked how she created the emotional connection of the romance and didn’t focus so much on the physical attraction between the two. I’m also glad this didn’t get too far into a love triangle. I saw the twist coming but it was interesting to see it all come together.
I will say that some of the blood/gore was gross and is a little intense. I also wanted a touch more development for the romance. I enjoyed this though and am definitely looking forward to book 2.
