Holy mother of all cliffhangers...I need the next book like right now.
I really liked this story. There were enough twists and turns to keep me guessing on what would come next without making me think there would never be a resolution. Very high level - there was a war and spores that infected people...no major recap here but ultimately, there are kids living on the street (Unclaimed Minors) that have to care for themselves and watch out for Marshals. Kids under 18 can't work and the only way Callie can make any money is to consider renting out her body to elders (people who have lived 100-200 years) who want to be back in a young body.
I loved Callie...she is the right mix of smart and tough but still shows her feelings and cares. She is caring for her little brother (Tyler). There is another boy who helps named Michael. I liked him as well but because of the flow of the story, we didn't get to see/learn too much about him. I wish we could have but I knew enough to know that he and Callie care about each other.
All of the other characters were great as well - the elders Callie interacted with and Blake. I can't say much as I don't want to give anything away. At first I was prepared to dislike the elders just based on the way they were portrayed in the beginning but then we start to see some working with Callie and realize they aren't all bad.
The Old Man - I have to know who it is...seriously. The mask and voice synthesizer make me think it is someone Callie knows but I can't even guess. The end had a lot of twists and only made me quickly go look to see when the next book comes out.
Looking forward to the next book (if you can't already tell) and I recommend this to anyone who likes a great story and a little mystery.
