Vince and Maven argue. a lot. She’s protecting her heart. But Vince is one determined hockey player.
This was my first Kandi Steiner book and definitely not my last! I loved the snarky banter between the hot shot rookie hockey player, Vince, and the social media savvy Maven. They are complete opposites. She was raised by hippie type parents. He was raised in wealth. She’s been destroyed by a rich jock in the past and is in no mood for this cocky handsome rookie. But. They are forced into working together. Let the sparks fly!
Maven won’t let her heart feel again. She’s determined to keep things professional. My heart broke for her and Kandi’s excellent writing makes you actually FEEL her struggles. Then there’s Vince. He’s enamored by the feisty Maven but she’s shared a bit about being hurt before so he tries to keep things light as she wants. He fails. I ached for Vince trying to do right by Maven but really catching feelings early on. And wow are they burning up the pages of this book when they finally get together!
There’s angst here of course but there’s also the expected smiles at the HEA so well deserved. There’s a group of hockey players I can’t wait to read more of and Kandi gives us a sneak peek of book 2. Oh yes please! This was a terrific, romantic, and certainly steamy read.
