Wulfric Bedwyn, Duke of Bewcastle does not like frivolities, so he regrets agreeing to attend a house party where most of the attendees are younger members of the ton. Christine Derrick, an impoverished gentile widow in her late 20s, is his complete opposite, seeking out wonder and joy in life, and constantly getting into scrapes. Christine wonders how she can be so attracted to someone she dislikes so much, and yet they keep finding reasons to be in each other's company.
I admit that I was a little disappointed in this one. It's still an excellent book, but some of the magic from earlier in the series was missing, especially since I was so excited about Wulfric's story. What I did love most about it though, was that Wulfric and Christine don't *change* for one another. Instead, their perspectives change and they learn to love each other for who they each are and allow their circumstances to shift.
