Dragon's Nest by Emily Rodda

4.0

Before I start this review, I just wanted to note my first thoughts when I read the first chapter of this novel;

" I read the first chapter, and already I have gotten a code to solve. I struggled with it but it reminded me why I love Deltora Quest so much!

This reminded me of my childhood and I'm just so glad I didn't read all the series at once, so one day I could dive into this world again and love it just as much as I did when I was a child.
Once I started getting into the book, I flew through it! Hopefully, I can finish the rest of this series before the year ends (but then there will be no more Deltora! ...Since I accidentally read the spin-off series already).
One thought that I did have, however, was "Was this series this violent when I read it so young?" I was surprised because some of the things in this book made me cringe...and I read this series eight years ago!

I love how we get to grow with Lief, Barda and Jasmine and get their full thoughts instead of only one perspective. I'm finding it a struggle, however to remember some of the characters (besides the main three, of course); like Lindal. I don't remember her at all from the other books, but Emily Rodda made sure we didn't feel completely left out as I still felt like I had a strong relationship with her character
Spoiler and was quite upset when we thought she had died.

An amazing novel and brought me back to my childhood. Now, onto book two!
