Last Ride of the Umbra Fae by Monica Amore

4.0

3.5 rounded up for me. But that's only because it's *slightly* more fantasy than I would prefer (not a big fantasy person so don't let that push you away)

Vessa is a strong, badass FMC who refused to belong to anyone (see exactly the kind of female characters Monica writes) and Ryder is a complex, falling quickly handsome cowboy. What's not to love?

The balance of the lore of fae, the family backstories, betrayal, and reveals are perfectly timed and written in this story. The tension is HIGH between Ryder and Vessa and I absolutely put my book down to audibly sigh a few times when they had an ALMOST moment.

Highly recommend this for lovers of cowboy romance, strong FMCs, fantasy, and fae.
