I gave this book five stars not because it’s perfect but because I have never read a book and felt so understood. Emma's relationship with her mom and her having to process was like being able to have a conversation with someone who could truly understand where I was coming from and my experience with my own mother.
Though I would have never expected it, this book made me reflect on forgiveness and what I need to get there.
It was fast paced and heartfelt. Even the things I found slightly cornylike how Jimenez worded Emma's trigger response as 'getting small' all made sense in the end. It felt like everything in this book had purpose and I liked that it all came together in the end. A happy ending every now and then is good for the soul.
If you haven't read Just for the Summer yet, you should.
