Walk the Edge by Katie McGarry

Jaime's Review
I absolutely love the way that Katie McGarry tells a story. It's so easy to get lost in the characters and their journey while reading one of her books. I like that she writes a more mature version of YA without making the characters too adult, too experienced and too wise beyond their years.

The only thing that kept me from absolutely loving this book was the whole premise of the MC. I don't normally read MC books because I struggle to understand the point of the secrecy, blind trust and borderline misogynistic attitudes of them. Even more so those clubs that claim to be law-abiding. This happened to be the case this time around, I didn't understand why everyone in town feared the club and thought they were capable of various criminal activities, including murder, and yet some high school athlete wasn't afraid to cross them.

Actually most of the conflict in this story felt a little blown out of proportion. The hate and vitriol coming from some of Breanna's siblings was beyond comprehension for me and don't even get me started on my thoughts about her parents.

However, I was rather invested in Razor/Thomas' search for the truth about his mothers death and how the MC may or may not have been involved. My favorite thing might have been the way that Razor questioned the club and their trustworthiness. I guess the whole blind brotherhood doesn't work for me.

So basically it comes down to a personal issue with subject matter that lowered this book to 4 stars for me. Beyond that, the writing is spectacular and the character development is excellent and I wouldn't hesitate to pick up more books in this series because, even having a dislike for MC romances, I thoroughly enjoyed the journey.
