the plot of this book is really interesting, there are so many twists and turns. as a retelling of romeo and juliet, it satisfyingly did everything for me that the original play did not. i really enjoyed all the references to shakespeare’s writing too. though it can be gruesome at times, i think that it does an amazing job at setting the scene and found myself completely engrossed in the ongoing of shanghai as i read. excited to read these violent ends now!!
