Seeing Red by Sandra Brown
3.0

Sandra Brown has an excellent flair for writing. She can really flesh out her characters and make their interaction feel quite real. The chemistry between Trapper and Kerra is definitely there. It's not just sparks. It's Roman candles. The Major is a character that I want to get to know more, but the focus feels like it's mainly shining down on Trapper, Kerra, and Wilcox.

The pace of the story was is well-done. I would imagine that it's hard to figure out what should be short and sweet or long and drawn-out, but Sandra makes it look effortless. My main beef with this book is that I feel that the sex scenes are too explicit. I don't need to know all those details. I have my own imagination for that. Chapter 27 and 28--Wow. I mean, I just don't need it. It doesn't drive the plot. It feels like filler. Yes, they're obviously attracted. Yes, they're gonna do it. But...we do really need to know the play-by-play?

I wouldn't mind reading more of her work, but I'd love to find something cleaner.
