I've been reading a lot of political figure memoirs lately, and this has definitely been my favorite so far. I think Kamala Harris is a very straightforward person, and it translates over to her position in politics as well as this book. Her career has been wonderful, but what this book does so well is show how she's dedicated herself to her career and taking the extra step forward to learn more, and do more.

I particularly enjoyed her simple explanations of political issues that can be complicated to understand. It was such an insightful and easy read, and especially if you tend to snooze (like me) about the nitty gritty details of some big issues.

It's also written in a very interesting time, finished(?) I believe around mid-2018, and this really brings the whole narrative together. The ending paragraph is the best way to sum up this book: "They [our children and grandchildren] will ask us where we were when the stakes were so high. They will ask us what it was like. I don't want us to just tell them how we felt. I want to tell them what we did."
