What Moves The Dead is a short story revolving around the fungal growths in a manor and the weird things happening around the place. I have always loved fungal horror, and this makes good use of it in such a creepy, horrofying way. I'm very glad it's short, because I think if it were any longer, it would have become very repetitive or been filled with too much fluff. It gets to the horror pretty quickly, and you're immediately able to tell something is wrong. The way Kingfisher describes the various mushrooms and fungus just sends chills down my spine, and the big reveal towards the end is so horrifying. I could not put this down. Highly recommend if you're looking for a short horror story to read!
Also, you do not need to read the original source material, Edgar Allen Poe's "The Fall of the House of Usher" to enjoy this story. And while I usually siip Author's Notes, I do highly recommend reading it AFTER you have finished the story.
