Literary lovers unite! And I do mean that because James Moriarty, Heathcliff, and Poe's Raven are the main stars here.
As I was reading this, I kept expecting to be disappointed, annoyed, and exasperated. It was a pleasant surprise when I found myself enjoying this immensely.
Now, this is a Reverse Harem type of deal, a guilty pleasure of mine. But, it wasn't very explicit at all. I'm expecting a slow burn type of deal here, and I'm all for it.
I loved Mina. She was a great girl to like. There are so many mysteries surrounding her though, none of which were resolved in this installment. The author also made her intriguing with the addition of an insidious, genetic condition that will eventually lead to permanent blindness. I'm very much looking forward to uncovering all the secrets behind her character.
How delightful that infamous characters were involved and they all had individual and unique personalities. This is something I greatly appreciated. They were all so yummy!
One complaint:
The perpetrator of the little murder mystery was obvious, and I was surprised that Mina was so oblivious about it. Because of this, I took a star off because it wasn't suspenseful enough when I already guessed the climax. I really liked that the author decided to make this series a murder mystery though since all the characters bring something different and entertaining to the table.
Overall: what a surprise this book was. I could see myself rereading this in the future. I would definitely recommend it to those who like slow burn, murder mystery, literary characters come to life, RH, and book stores.
