Really enjoyed this book. All the history of the family in China was fascinating! “Girl” was an amazing character who lived such a hard and disappointing life before things finally began to turn around. The beliefs, the rituals and the lifestyle of the Akha culture was so very interesting to read about and to realize that these practices were done very recently!!!!
Just a beautiful story of the self sacrificing love of a mother for her child - going against all that “Girl” knew to save her daughter by giving her up.
And the constant feeling for mother and daughter that something was missing.
Really loved this book!!!!
