Sons and Lovers by Geoff Dyer, D. H. Lawrence
3.0
Sons and Lovers is more than a trashy romance novel, because it explores relationships as a whole and not just the, er, romantic parts. I read it primarily because a friend of mine strongly identified with the main character, and mentioned that Mariam reminded him of me. While there are some differences, I can see a few similarities, especially in their interaction. The books explores aspects of belonging, the importance (or unimportance) of family relationships, and much much more, yours for the low low price of $3.50 from Dover thrift. This sales pitch is over!
