My only knowledge of this book was seeing the last half of the movie a few years ago, so I went in to this book braced for it to be super transphobic in the lead up to the end. While some of the book is really dated (and fairly, it's over 35 years old), it's nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be. It was also super creepy. From the first page I was sucked in and couldn't put the book down. I'm glad I read it while it was light outside though, because Harris creates such a creepy world with fantastic characters. I'm truly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book and how much it managed to scare me.
Graphic: Animal death, Death, Gore, Violence, Murder
Moderate: Animal cruelty, Gun violence, Homophobia, Transphobia
