Treasure Island
by Robert Louis Stevenson
Somehow I missed this one growing up. But it's very good - a pure adventure story from beginning to end, stacked with swashbuckling detail that would eventually become the source of every buccaneer trope in popular culture. Now I understand why Jack London sailed around halfway around the world to find Stevenson's island grave. I'd venture to say that if you enjoy reading, even just a little bit, you'll be guaranteed to enjoy this story.
