FMC: Aria Swan
MMC: Santo De Bellis
Tropes: Mafia Romance, marriage of convenience, second chance at love, forced proximity, fake relationship
Setting: Melbourne, Australia
Thoughts: This was a quick read for me. I appreciated the first five chapters being a little bit of a jump back in time to show Santo’s pov over the last year and a little of Aria’s background. Santo’s story was one I’ve patiently waited for since reading A Sinner’s Promise. The death of his fiancée was the catalyst to everything that’s happened in this series and it made so much sense to wait to give him his HEA last.
I really liked Aria as a partner for Santo. She was exactly what he needed. Honest, loyal, understanding and willing to look past his dark family business. She allowed Santo the space and time to grieve and was there for him when he discovered the truths everyone had been hiding from him.
Santo had a great character arc. I enjoyed getting to see more of his goodness in his relationship with Aria. He finally got to move on from his tragic past and found the person who was always meant for him. I loved his protectiveness, even before he was willing to admit he had feelings for Aria.
As much as I loved the brothers’ stories, this seems like it wasn’t the end. There was a little bit of a cliffhanger at the end and Santo’s story didn’t really feel finished. I’m excited to see where else the De Bellis Family can go now that they’ve all found their HEAs.
