The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom by Don Miguel Ruiz

informative reflective slow-paced

2.0

I can always appreciate a
book focused on living life to the
fullest extent possible. The book
focuses on 4 teachings: ① Be
impeccable w/ your word ② Dont
take anything personally ③ Dont
make assumptions + ④ Always
do your best. I stand behind
all of these but fundamentally
disagreed w/ the examples/
implementation the author gave
in most cases. For example he
would say dont tell someone it
looks like they have cancer because
it speaks it into existence. As
if not saying it magically cures
someone from illness. That one
really stuck w/ me. He also
claimed all gossip is bad but
used the example of someone
warning against predatory behavior.
After that I googled the author
& found he was accussed of
assulting women multiple times
... Which just left a sour taste
in my mouth. By the end of
the book he made a couple of
examples I liked, one even
made me laugh-in a good
way! Ion glad I read the
book to discuss w/ pablo!
