Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
Did not finish book. Stopped at 41%.
I just can't deal with Claire's lack of emotions. She has no cultural shock whatsoever after being transported to the 18th century? and doesn't seem in a hurry to go back to the 40s and to her husband? She seems okay with being forced to marry another man???
Also why portray Jamie as a good and nice man to then have him rape her (multiple times) once they're married? (and no, "to be faithful to the time period the book's set up in" isn't a valid excuse — it's a bloody fictional book & the whole historical romance genre is laughing at you right now). I haven't touched the book in over two weeks because of it and after reading a few reviews, I see that it happens again so it's a no from me. I don't even know if I want to watch the show anymore...
