Never Whistle at Night: An Indigenous Dark Fiction Anthology by Shane Hawk, Theodore C. Van Alst Jr.

challenging dark emotional mysterious reflective sad tense medium-paced

3.5

like most short story collections I have read before, I found these stories to be hit or miss. this took me a lot longer to read as most of them just didn’t hold my attention. but I enjoyed reading the dark, eerie atmospheres of each story and learning about different indigenous mythology. my favorites were kushtuka, white hills, snakes are born in the dark, night in the chrysalis, dead owls and collections.

please check tws as I wasn’t aware for some of the stories.
