I really wanted to love this, because the kids' destination on the train at the beginning of the book is the depot from which I took my very first train ride in 1st grade. I listened to this on audiobook purely because Jim Dale was the narrator, and sadly he wasn't enough. None of the characters grew on me, and the world building wasn't engrossing for me. Alas.
