Bass Culture: When Reggae Was King by Lloyd Bradley

funny informative medium-paced

4.5

The definitive history of Jamaican music. I re-read this about once every decade, every time I get something new out of it. As well as the music there's a decent bit of social background information about the island (& the UK). As other reviews point out, the author stops at dancehall, but I can live with that.
