Peril at End House by Agatha Christie

2.0

This was by all means a pretty good mystery, what with the drama and the thrill of threats to Nick’s life. But suffice it to say, I felt like the “evil” lurking behind End House didn’t hold up. For me it was mostly told rather than shown. And the events leading up to the crescendo dragged for quite a while. And lastly, the plot was too convoluted that I did not really enjoy the big reveal(s) at the end.

I believe a lot of readers of mystery will still like this! But I urge new Christie readers to consider other books instead. This wasn’t just to my taste.

P.S.: this also had pretty bad stereotypes and an anti-semitic remark that I hadn’t noticed until now
