Winter Solstice by Rosamunde Pilcher

5.0

I loved this book. I was a little intimidated because of the length (my version from the local library was over 400 pages), and I wondered if this was going to be a long, slow, and sprawling drama.

It was long, but it was gorgeously crafted. Pilcher sets her characters up with love and care and the plot is people and landscape centered, not so much about conflicts to be resolved. The plot conflicts get settled with a very laid-back attitude, so if you're reading this book for dramatic conflict, this might not be the book for you. But if you want a book where you come to care deeply for the characters and get immersed in the beautiful Scottish landscape and love having a joyful attitude during the holiday season, this is definitely a book you will want to read.

Winter Solstice is going on my "to buy" list and I already know it's going to become a book I read traditionally during the holiday season.
