Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn
1.0

Let's just start with the fact that I absolutely love Gillian Flynn. Her books, characters, the crazy plots are just so captivating. I was sure I'm going to be obsessed with this book. But while I was reading I thought to myself "Did Gillian REALLY write this or is this a joke?"

I would like to give 2 stars because the main idea was extraordinary and the characters, as usual, were really complex and intriguing in some kinds of sick ways. But:

- The plot was so slow paced I wanted to give up on reading the book. And I rarely do that. The things that were not that important, like the days nothing interesting happens, were extremely detailed, and when we got the plot twists it was.. expectable and short. I would've never thought I would say this to a Flynn book, but the plot twist was not as mind blowing as in the other books. And the fact that it wasn't detailed, made me really frustrated.

-There were too many strings unattached. I love a good open-ended story where I can use my imagination and just "play" around with the character's future. But this story SCREAMED for clarifing. The relationships that were built throughout the book got COMPLETELY lost after the plot twist. You got maybe one sentence about one of the male characters. ONE single sentence.

-The whole book felt like a sketch, it gave me a feeling of an unfinished book. I was expecting someone to tell me that this is just the general idea and not the whole book. Alas, this did not happen.

I'm so dissapointed and angry with how this turned out because this could've been a great story if the plot would be modified. Still, this doesn't stop me from loving Gillian Flynn's work and writing style.
