This book felt so strange to me. It seems weird that Paulsen more or less went back and wrote a second ending to Hatchet, just to see what might have happened if Brian had been trapped in the woods through the winter. It just seems bizarre to do that, but I read it and it wasn't bad by any means. It was fairly interesting to see what Brian might have endured, though I can't ever see this book as being "canon" because it really isn't. Brian was rescued after 54 days, he didn't make it to winter. You can't really take that back, even if you feel like you need to know what MIGHT have been.
I'm not dissing it at all. I did enjoy it. I just...didn't find it necessary? I don't know, it was weird.
