Ruthless Game
by Christine Feehan
Ruthless Game is book 9 in Christine Feehan’s Ghost Walkers series. Although this is my least favorite of her series’, Ruthless Game is probably my favorite of the nine books so far.
The Ghost Walker series is sort of a techno-thriller/romance series – concerning a group of genetically enhanced “super soldiers,” with a wide range of special psychic and physical abilities. In most of the past eight books I’ve found myself skipping through the military missions and focusing in on the romance aspects, because that’s what Christine Feehan does so well: romance. Ruthless Game was a bit different for me though, and I read it cover to cover without skipping so much as a word.
The key in Ruthless Game was the heroine Rose: I loved her from the moment I “met” her and couldn’t wait to see what happened when she was reunited with Kane, the Ghost Walker she had been paired with. Maybe it was the added fact that she was pregnant, and then had a newborn to contend with (along with constant threats on her life and the lives of her loved ones,) but for whatever reason, Rose and Kane along with baby Sebastian, quickly became my favorite Ghost Walkers.
The Ghost Walker series, like all Feehan’s series’, only get better with time. She’s one of the best romance series authors out there and I have become a huge fan over the last few years. She continues to introduce new characters in each book and those characters will show up in their own books later on in the series. My favorite books are the ones like Ruthless Game, which bring old and new characters together like a fantastic family reunion. I am excited to see where Christine Feehan will take her series next.
