Maus: A Survivor's Tale. I, My Father Bleeds History by Art Spiegelman

5.0

I'm not particularly drawn to stories set in WW2, but this graphic novel series drew me with it's parallels between what had happened to Art's parents during the Holocaust and how it has affected their lifestyle choices in present day while juxtaposing that with Art's upbringing and own lifestyle choices. As someone with immigrant parents, it painted a realistic picture of the culture clashes between parents and children who have grown up in very different environments which subsequently creates a cultural tension between each generation, all while trying to understand each other and develop a relationship that accommodates these differences.
