It has everything I needed in a romance book after being in a huge slump for the past three months—we’ve got grumpy x sunshine, fake dating, the guy falls first, and miscommunication that does not come from either of the character involved in the miscommunication (although it’s still not my favorite it was executed very well if I do say so myself). Am I ignoring the fact that it was originally inspired by her fanfics, yes. But honestly—and maybe it’s just because I’m not a star wars person—I didn’t get any major fanfic-y vibes, and outside of the few star wars mentions, that was all I really got out of it. I can’t wait to read everything else Ali Hazelwood has in store.
