Welcome, welcome to Caraval. This is the first time I have read Stephanie Garber and I now understand why people gush about her writing. The world she builds and the language she uses are sublime.
Scarlet wants to see Caraval and Master Legend and pleads with him via letter to come to her home town, he doesn’t, until she writes him and says she is getting married and she no longer needs him to visit. Then she and Tella get an invitation to come to Caraval.
What ensues over the next few nights is mafia and adventure and the quest to find her sister Tella. I liked the sisters, but I loved Dante and Julian. I picked up the next book immediately for answers.
