The premise of this book was so intriguing and I was really quite excited to read it. The writing was very good, so no complaints there. I felt that the plot took a long time to develop and was hard to follow. I found Nelly’s choices confusing and sometimes contradictory. The big “reveal” of the Mayor seemed to be too obvious. The relationship between Nelly and Jay was quite toxic and I just couldn’t get behind it. This story had a lot of good ingredients, but it as a whole just didn’t quite work for me.
