turtlebean 's review for:
The Shell Seekers
by Rosamunde Pilcher
This was a recommendation from my mother-in-law and a rare foray into 80s literature for me.
I wouldn't have minded a SLIGHT paring down to make it shorter, but overall I loved the way this captured the concept of not necessarily liking everyone that you're related to. If you're into a sprawling family drama, this might be up your alley!
Pilcher beautifully distills the different types of values that are common in a lot of people in 2024 still. I mean, I *think* anybody would want to be a Penelope or Olivia and not a Nancy or Noel, but who knows.
Also got me intrigued about a bunch of little towns in England I'd never heard of!
